A Simple Tweet Blown Out Of Proportion

Social media + Michigan Fanboys at MGoBlog + Dave Brandon = Things blown WAY out of proportion.

The other day, Michigan guard Trey Burke-who’s trying to make a decision on whether to go to the NBA or not- tweeted on his twitter account:

This tweet referenced Burke’s decision on whether to go to the NBA or not, and seeing this tweet, MSU AD Mark Hollis tweeted:

After reading this, all Spartan fans knew Wolverines would jump right on it. MGoBlog got a hold of this tweet, and made a whole post about the SPELLING errors in the tweet. Not the ramifications, the SPELLING ERRORS. Of course, minutes later a parody Mark Hollis twitter account was created with every tweet containing many grammatical errors.

After the childish MGoBlog post died down, the real question was: Was this tweet a recruiting violation? People were thinking that this whole thing was an attempt to get Trey Burke to come to MSU.

Uh- that’s a really stupid thought. If Hollis WAS trying to get Burke to come to MSU (which he is NOT), he wouldn’t have done it publicly over a social media site.

Of course, in response to the exchange, U of M AD Dave Brandon tweeted:

The funniest thing about this tweet is Brandon trying to act with such authority. Because seriously, what is Dave Brandon going to do if Hollis tweeted Burke again?

Leave it to Michigan fans and the University to blow one little tweet WAY out of proportion.
